TalTech Lab-on-a-Chip & Microfluidics group develops advanced microfluidic instrumentation and intelligent process control systems for droplet-based technologies. Our research combines microfluidics, electronics, optics, and data-driven control to enable precise droplet generation, monitoring, and sorting for biotechnology and materials applications.

We focus on translating lab-scale concepts into robust, automated platforms — including droplet microfluidic systems and electrospinning process monitoring — bridging fundamental research with scalable, industry-ready solutions.

Droplet microfluidics - applications and instruments

Droplet microfluidics is exciting - millions of picoliter test tubes in minutes… But it's very difficult and often expensive, which limits the spread of this wonderful technology. We want to change that 🙂

Electrospinning produces exciting multi-layer nanofiber membranes for applications in cutting-edge face masks, wound dressings, and targeted drug delivery systems. The problem? Making enough with good quality. This is the problem we're working on solving 😉
